5 tips for finding your perfect wedding day hairstyle

1. WEATHER Nothing can ruin a good hairstyle like inhospitable weather. That’s not to say you can’t have great hair in bad weather but there are most certainly hairstyles more durable then others. Because of this it’s very important to take into consideration what the probable weather conditions may be on your wedding day. If you’re getting married in mid June when the weather is at it’s best your options are pretty much endless. That is unless you’re getting married on the beach where humidity is high and can make […] Read more…

A New Direction

I’ve been stalling on this post for almost two months now.  So where do I begin? As 2018 was approaching I had great plans to hit the ground running on this year.  I was all set to have the most productive year yet, I had written out plans with monthly goals and ideas all the way through December ’18. I was pumped.  And then January actually came and it was the complete opposite.  I walked into the new year and I was in a fog, I couldn’t focus, I’d […] Read more…

Julia’s Forest Wedding Perfection

If I could hand pick every detail of what would be my dream day of work it would have been this day. Is it fair to say that Julia’s wedding is possibly my favorite wedding of all time? And for so so many reasons, starting with Julia herself.  She was the most relaxed, easygoing, and hilariously sarcastic bride I’ve had the pleasure to work with. She made us feel like friends instead of just her hair and makeup team. She made sure to have some of her gourmet doughnuts and […] Read more…

2017 a year of travel

As I’m looking back at 2017 I realize it was definitely a year defined by travel and trusting to follow the Lords lead. As I’m sitting here realizing how many places Andrew and I were able to go I’m blown away by the sweetness of the Lord to know my heart.  For years I longed to travel and there were many times I made it known to Andrew, but back then there seemed to be a big fat “its never going to happen” sign slapped across my dream. Yet I […] Read more…

Vegas with the girls!

I’ve been so blessed to have these two ladies in my life.  I pretty much won the jackpot when my husband’s two best friends married such rad women that I love. I know that isn’t always the case for a lot of people , but I’m happy to say I’m one of the lucky ones. Vegas was so much fun! It’s the simple luxuries that mean so much, like sleeping in, taking your sweet time to get ready and spending all day shopping. Especially for Chloe and Anna who both […] Read more…

My turn as the client

I met Jamie through Instagram almost two years ago.  She’s one of the most passionate and hardworking hairdressers around owning her own salon “Pin and Plait Studio” and an incredibly successful online course “Oh Hot Gram” designed to help fellow hairdressers utilize their Instagram accounts in a way that turns into real life clients and business growth. And she’s only 25! If I was even half as focused and determined as her at that age… Heck, if I was even half that now!!… But lets not play the “what if” […] Read more…

Getaway with the besties

Life can get so busy that weeks can go by without being able to see your friends, even friends that live exactly 4 min away.  Its kind of a bummer, so when the opportunity came up for us to have an overnight getaway we all jumped on it.  We packed up the car, packed up the snacks and headed out to a place with barely there Wi-Fi, spotty cell service and a whole lot of space.  We spent almost all of our time outside running around getting sweaty and covered […] Read more…

Ireland Again?!

Ireland again? Yes this is our third time going to Ireland in one year but I will tell you the same thing we’ve told our family and friends and the same thing we told customs when they were questioning us pretty heavily before letting us out of the airport. No we are not planning on moving to Ireland, we just really really love it there! And one of the biggest reasons is because of all the friends we’ve made there.  I mean like real, honest to goodness friends.  And a […] Read more…

Our Last Day in Iceland

On our last day in Iceland we drove out to Fjadrarglijufur Canyon.  I was really looking forward to it because the pictures I had seen were amazing. It was raining pretty hard that morning but I was hopeful that by the time we got to the canyon, an hour and a half drive from our hotel, the skies would clear up.  No such luck.  It was raining pretty hard when we got there but that didn’t stop us.  We put on our ponchos and headed up the trail.  Even though […] Read more…

Waterfalls and Planes

I must say that our second day in Iceland was a pretty good one.  We woke up early and set out to hike down Solheimasandur beach to see the old abandoned DC-3 plane that crashed there in 1973. It took us just over an hour to walk all the way from the parking area to the actual plane which felt like an hour of walking through Mars. The ground was black sand and rock and there was nothing in the horizon as far as we could see, which had become […] Read more…
