On our last day in Iceland we drove out to Fjadrarglijufur Canyon. I was really looking forward to it because the pictures I had seen were amazing. It was raining pretty hard that morning but I was hopeful that by the time we got to the canyon, an hour and a half drive from our hotel, the skies would clear up. No such luck. It was raining pretty hard when we got there but that didn’t stop us. We put on our ponchos and headed up the trail. Even though the visibility wasn’t the greatest it was still worth seeing. But the big spectacle to see was my face by the time we got back to the car! I had a feeling my makeup was messed up because of the looks people were giving me as they walked past but I wasn’t exactly expecting it to be as bad as it was. I was completely destroyed by the wind and rain! Hahaha! Oh man, what a sight to see! But you gotta love those real life moments right?!
As we were headed back to our room to get packed up for or 6am flight the next morning we stumbled across one more little gem. We called it a Hobbit house, because that’s what it looked like to us, but it was just this little cottage built into the side of a rock hill. It was really cool to roam around for a bit, especially since Andrew LOVES The Lord Of The Rings and The Hobbit. He’s always wanted to have a shire of his own and one day we plan on going to New Zealand to see the real shire, but this was a sweet little taste in the mean time.
